![]() ![]() If for example we have 118 visible players in the server list and 747 being reported by steam we need to account for the 629 players that we can't see. We don't have the full picture and based on actual testing clearly something is up. Again as stated several times, the post you responded to was me clarifying that the data is misrepresenting what's going on. Did you look at the data provided? it takes into account every server full or not, all the data is there and everyone is encouraged to verify and double check it. All of these are problematic for different reasons and I would argue are valuable things to be aware of when looking at the numbers presented as they're not illustrating what most people read them as illustrating. There has also been the suggestion that the server list is straight up broken and doesn't actually display all the servers. These range from having very large numbers of players in offline mode to mappers making content to the countless empty servers contributing to the count. We've not yet found the source of the discrepancy but that doesn't change the fact that the numbers you see on those sites doesn't accurately reflect the number of players you will find to play with which is (for most people) the reason they're checking those numbers.Īs has been noted there have been several suggestions as to what the problem could be. ![]() As I tried to clarify in the post you responded to, this is hugely misleading to potential players. What wasn't expected was to see that Pavlovs actual numbers were far below what steam and by extension steamdb/steamcharts suggest. This was the main goal of the tests as we've seen countless players pointing to steamdb/steamcharts as evidence for these other games having no players. This is easily explained for games like Onward and Contractors where the player base also includes native quest users. ![]() In actually doing a manual count of all servers the numbers aren't even close to matching up. That said I think you're misunderstanding the point here, which is what I was trying to clarify in the post you responded to. That's not hugely problematic but the whole point here is that when checking the data presented it doesn't seem to match up. So you've not actually got any data to compare and can't be sure at all at the accuracy of it.
